The LightHouse LHLF team consists of experts who have a proven track record both in industry, in the world of tax advice and in tax/Customs authorities, in France and abroad.

The team’s approach is pragmatic and designed to offer the best value possible to its clients, so that they benefit directly from our avant-garde solutions when they are dealing with significant changes in their organization.

We make sure that our clients do not have to worry about taxation and legal problems which we take care of!

Our mission is to help with the development of operations linked to the international trade of our clients.

We offer a legal and fiscal content of the highest quality, taking into account, above everything, the operational imperatives of our clients.
 We innovate offering solutions which become standard in the tax consulting industry, in particular with the ‘on demand’ services which help as much as possible in the determination, calculation and declaration of taxes.

Our services are offered via the following methods: fixed-price subscription, advice/consulting services, project support, risk and optimization audit, training, audit and dispute assistance, representation of companies in their dealings with the authorities.

Fixed price subscription

We offer this service for all technical matters related to international trade, in particular in its regulatory, fiscal and customs aspects.

The management of these problems is the cause of daily challenges for many companies. It requires the help of specialists and consultants, the cost of which is a constraint, particularly when it is calculated according to time spent. The subscription service offered by LightHouse LHLF allows our clients to be assisted in identifying and resolving daily problems related to fiscal, customs and regulatory management of their international operations, in the European Union and outside the EU, at a fixed price.

In practice, this subscription generally includes management of problems which may arise in the 28 Member-States of the EU, as well as in Switzerland and in Norway, but also in America, Asia and Eastern Europe, thanks to a strong network of experts that the firm has formed throughout its development.

Of course, our expertise also allows us to support our clients in the management of their French domestic problems.

Generally open to any entity belonging to our client (branch, subsidiary, parent company, etc.) our subscription services include the reviewing of commercial documents (sales or service contracts, official forms, etc.), as well as sending, in real-time, our practical recommendations by the appropriate media.

The subscription is advantageous in terms of cost management as the service price is negotiated beforehand – we invoice a fixed monthly fee. So, our clients have the benefit of our expertise when they need it – without additional costs. The anticipation of the cost of assistance helps with the daily management of risks: our clients can be sure that the rules are correctly applied (bookkeeping, invoicing, declaration, etc.), and obtain practical recommendations before making strategic decisions.

The subscription offers our clients a simple, fast and efficient manner of managing international trade taxation, customs and regulations questions, while monitoring the associated risks.

Our consulting practice allows our clients to be supported in the management of specific subjects which arise during their operations. It is adapted to companies that have ad-hoc needs not requiring subscription.

When we listen to our clients and provide services, we systematically take into account the whole of their activity. Our consultancy services combine therefore the highest technical quality and our client’s legal, accounting, logistical, operational and IT constraints.

We help our clients to transform a technical solution into a business decision.

Projects-based services

Using its team’s professional experience, LightHouse LHLF is able to help its clients in implementing new projects, which are not generated by a tax problem, but which have a significant impact on the tax management of operations. This involves in particular restructuring operations such as:
• A change in the operational model / Business model (agent vs. commissionaire, restructuring of distribution channels, etc.) ;

• “Intellectual Property Structuring” (IP location, etc.) ;

• Entering into a new market; establishment of foreign companies in France and French companies abroad;

• Adjustments in the transfer pricing policy;

• The implementation of an ERP, etc ;

• The improvement of intra-group relationships; cost-sharing centers; purchase and referencing centers; logistics platforms.

In practice, LightHouse LHLF provides management services throughout the life-cycle of a project. From the feasibility study to the strategic implementation, to the deployment and use by interested parties. We understand the operations of our clients – their point of view, whether tax, commercial, logistical or financial – and we ensure that taxation or law is not an obstacle but rather a source of savings in terms of cash management and best financial performance.

Management of cross-border operations

Through its advanced experience in international and operational taxation and its excellent expertise in the domain of business law, the team at LightHouse LHLF can support its clients in the legal and regulatory aspects of their international operations. It is involved in particular in:

– The negotiation, drafting and application of international sales and service provision contracts (e.g. distribution, agent, commissionaire, transport and logistics);

– The review of internal procedures level of compliance to the regulatory environment (consumer and distribution law, international payments, payment services law);

– The management and organization of international flows and operations;

– Tracking of regulated activities on a pan-European level: assistance with obtaining approval, administrative control and litigation linked to regulated activities;

– Assistance on matters of merchandise traffic (dumping/subsidies).

Communication with the authorities

This goes without saying, but we would like to emphasize: we are used to helping our clients manage their relationships with the local and international tax, customs and administrative authorities.
Whether this involves helping the client during an audit, an inquiry or an inspection, negotiating a prior question, or regularizing a past situation, we have the experience and the know-how to ensure correct and efficient communication with the appropriate authorities and representation of our clients.

As with our other services, our approach is pragmatic and adapted to the expectations of the client. We are oriented towards results – which implies, sometimes, negotiating a settlement with the authorities rather than defending a technical position at all costs.

We think that our clients have other concerns than discussing (disputing?) with the authorities. We help them therefore navigate this part of their work in the quickest and most efficient way possible in terms of cost.

That being said, when a client is involved in a technically complicated financial matter or an issue of principle, we can accompany them to the appropriate court and handle the litigation part of the issue (in particular if the case is in relation to a technical point which has a significant impact on the operations of our client – or on the whole of the industry!).

The resolution of business litigation / Pre-litigious activity and legal activity

We support our clients not only in legal disputes which places them against the tax authorities, but also in the disputes which they may have with a client, a supplier, a service provider or another business partner. We aim to resolve, if possible, the situation in an amicable way, particularly by supporting our clients in the alternative conflict-resolution methods such as conciliation and mediation.

If this path offers no optimal solution, we act on behalf of our client before the appropriate Court and support them in all stages of the litigation.

The firm has furthermore specific expertise in C onstitutional litigationin France.
