Renaud Roquebert
Renaud is a member of the
Paris Bar as an Attorney-at-Law. He has been an
international tax expert for 16 + years, serving
clients around the world. He has lived and worked
in three European countries and in the US.
He is also a member of the International Bar Association, and of the American Bar Association.
Prior to founding LightHouse
LHLF, Renaud worked as a Director with Landwell
& Partners, corresponding law firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers
[PwC], in Paris, France, where he was in charge
of the VAT team business development in the US
and Asia-Pac.
Renaud also worked in the
US. He was a member of the PwC West Region VAT
team based in San Jose, CA. While in the US, he
started and developed the PwC San Francisco office
VAT desk.
Before his US assignment,
Renaud worked in three European countries: Luxembourg
(where he assisted in building an International
tax team), Belgium and France (where again he
participated in building up the VAT team).
He has been working on a diverse
range of clients, from small size companies to
global multi-billion dollars corporations, all
involved in cross border transactions.
His expertise is in managing
pan-European projects for companies selling their
products throughout Europe. In this respect, he
has been consulting with clients on a wide range
of international VAT issues, restructuring projects
and identification of opportunities.
Renaud has a Postgraduate
degree in Corporate Tax Management from University
of Paris-Dauphine, and he holds a Master in Business
and Corporate Tax Law from University of Paris-Pantheon-Sorbonne.
Renaud fluently speaks French & English.
Victoria Soledad Alvarez
Attorney-at-Law (Avocat) with
the Bar of Paris and Buenos Aires Argentina,
Victoria has gained a significant experience in
major tax law firms, both in France and in Argentina,
and in industry.
She has lived, studied, and
worked in Argentina, Spain, the US and France.
In March 2006, she joined
as an associate the VAT & Customs team of
Landwell & Associés, French correspondent
law firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she
specialized in domestic, European and international
indirect tax issues.
From 2004 to 2006, Victoria
worked as an international tax specialist with
Alcatel Group and subsequently with LVMH Group,
both in the Paris France, area.
Prior to her arrival into
France, she worked with Marval, O'Farrel &
Mairal, a prominent law firm in Buenos Aires.
Victoria graduated in business
law at the universities of Buenos Aires and Paris-Panthéon-Sorbonne,
and post-graduated in international tax law at
the universities Autonoma of Madrid and Paris-Panthéon-Sorbonne,
where she is at present writing a PhD dissertation.
She has written a number of
articles and reports, all published in various
general and specialized reviews, on subjects such
as judicial review on tax matters, tax advance
rulings and environmental taxes.
Victoria speaks fluently French,
English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Sophie Dumon-Kappe
After 10 years working with Landwell & Associés (PwC) in Paris, Sophie Dumon-Kappe has joined LightHouse LHLF as a Partner, heading the Customs & Excise duties practice.
Sophie has a solid experience in Customs advisory and litigation. In particular, she has been focusing on specific taxes –alcohol, tobacco and energy products-, Customs duties and “green” taxes.
In the course of her career, Sophie gained a specific skill concerning the improvement of flows of goods, i.e. the implementation of Customs regimes allowing reducing the charges related to importation. These pragmatic solutions she advises her clients on conciliate the legal requirements with the logistic needs of international supply chains.
Before working withing Landwell & Associés, Sophie worked for 2 years at the Centre Français du Commerce Extérieur (The French Government International Trade Agency), providing advice to EU wine and alcohol businesses, exporting to different Asian countries. During this period, Sophie helped many companies to settle in and develop in the region, and in Japan in particular. She also lived and worked in the US (Washington D.C.) for a while, where she worked on wine related litigations between the US and the EU.
Sophie holds a Master’s degree in International Private Business Law of the University Jean Moulin Lyon III and a Degree of Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration of the University Jean Moulin Lyon III.
Sophie is fluent in English and French.
Jean Thomasset
Jean has over 30 years experience in Customs matters and has held various positions with the French customs authorities, in industry and the consulting world.
A graduate of the Ecole Nationale des Douanes (French Customs National School), he began his career in the Directorate General of Customs in the Ministry of Economy and Finance where he held various positions of responsibility.
He then joined the French multinational corporation Pechiney as responsible for the Customs department for Europe and Africa.
Jean then exercised his expertise in consulting, first as founder and CEO of a consulting firm, then joining the Customs practice of Landwell & Partners, correspondant law firm of PwC.
He then returned in industry, as a Customs Director (worldwide) with the Canadian group Alcan, then Customs Director for Europe, Africa, Middle-East and South America with Anglo-Australian mining group Rio Tinto.
Throughout these years, Jean has developed a wide expertise covering all aspects of Customs management of a company, including the creation and organization of in-house Customs department.
Jean is fluent in French and English.
Stephanie Su -Our Partner, based in Silicon Valley, USA
Stephanie lives and works in Silicon Valley.
With more than 15 years of experience in corporate taxation with public and pre-IPO companies, she is a tax executive veteran.
For the past 11 years, she has established and run successful tax departments for multi-national software, software services, and IP licensing companies.
Prior to working in-house, Stephanie managed major technology and telecommunications clients at a Big 4 firm in San Francisco.
Stephanie has extensive experience in international taxation issues, in numerous aspects of US taxation (e.g., Accounting for Income Taxes – FAS109), as well as Asian and European local country tax compliance.
Stephanie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics from University of California at Berkeley and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree with an emphasis in Accounting from Santa Clara University.
She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California.
Stephanie is fluent in English, and Chinese Mandarin, having grown up in Taiwan.
